What is UX research?
User research is the study of a specific group of user’s needs, behaviours and goals through methods such as interviews, surveys and usability testing. Findings can form the basis of designing, developing and improving products.
Why does research matter?
The aim of UX isn't to make things "pretty", it's about creating intuitive, accessible digital experiences. Whether the user is trying to report an animal welfare issue, helping an animal recover in our centres or processing a donation, UX is about removing the digital friction that slows us down from our shared goal of making a better world for every animal.
By finding out what users actually need and how they actually act in a given circumstance, we as designers can help you make decisions and designs informed by evidence and data.

How can we help you?
Usability testing
Enhance your product's user-friendliness through rigorous usability testing, ensuring a seamless and intuitive experience for your audience.

Types of user research
Depending on what insights you want to gather, there are a range of different methodologies you can use. Here are just a few:
User interviews
One-to-one conversations to explore the goals, motivations and pain points of the user – getting right into their brains for a user mental model.
Prototype design and testing
Creating an interactive prototype and putting its usability to the test.
A/B testing
Creating two versions of a design and comparing donations, interactions and usability.
Surveys and questionnaires
The true tried and tested methods – just asking the right questions can produce both qualitative and quantitative data.
Journey mapping
Visualising user experience across a number of touchpoints in any given journey, to understand not only what they think but how they feel.
Heatmap analysis and session recordings
By analysing user’s interactions in real life, we can gather data and feedback on points of friction and frustration.
Tools we use
To help us send out interactive prototypes, analyse heat maps, test live digital experiences and presenting workshops, we use an array of tools.
